For some reason, I’ve written a play — and now some incredibly talented actors headlined by The Simpsons’ own Dan Castellaneta have agreed to read it on stage before a live audience (that will hopefully include you) so we can learn a bit more about what’s working and what’s not, and how many Tony Awards to expect.
The play is about the first meeting of FDR and Winston Churchill, which occurred onboard the USS Augusta off the coast of Newfoundland in August, 1941, under circumstances of great intrigue. Churchill has come hoping to persuade FDR to bring America into the war, but FDR has ideas of his own, and the price of his help will be much higher than Churchill expected. In essence, this play is about the creation of the post-war world order that is now facing its gravest threat since World War 2. There are also subplots that deal with more the human aspects of this meeting.
After the play, refreshments will be served and anyone who is so inclined will be invited to to share their thoughts or suggestions about the work. I hope to see you there!
